Presenters from Carnegie Mellon University will discuss the ways in which the university engages with external partners in the process of innovation and technology commercialization. An overview of each speaker’s area will be provided as well as strategies introduced to achieve the greatest benefits for the university, its faculty and its partners. The keynote speaker (Hyong Kim, Professor Electrical and Computer Engineering, CMU) will present an overview of current trends in telecom industry and exciting new opportunities.

Fundação Luso-Americana has recently sponsored the creation of a summer program in Portuguese at Concordia Language Villages, an excellent and well established language immersion program based in Minnesota. This would be ideal for members who have been living in the US for long and may have school-age children that could potentially be interested in refreshing their Portuguese or may have colleagues interested in the language.

O BES Revelação destina-se a jovens com idade limite de 30 anos, à data de 30 de Junho de 2010, podendo apresentar-se de forma individual ou em grupo. Para participarem, os candidatos deverão apresentar projectos que recorram de forma central, ainda que não exclusiva, à fotografia, sendo o tema dos trabalhos livre. Os processos de candidatura deverão ser enviados para a Fundação de Serralves, devidamente acompanhados pela Ficha de Candidatura e deverão respeitar, na íntegra, todas as condições de candidatura referidas no regulamento da presente edição.

A cada artista seleccionado, será atribuída uma bolsa de produção no valor de 7.500€, bem como a oportunidade única de expor os projectos vencedores em Serralves.

The State Secretary for Portuguese Communities Abroad, Dr. António Braga will be honoring PAPS members with a dinner in San Diego on May 23rd, leading a discussion with researchers and post-docs in the area. Dr. António Braga will the accompanied by the Portuguese General Consul in California, Dr. António Costa Moura.
